MELAKA, July 5 2019 : Flight operations at the Melaka International Airport (LTAM) involving its Penang-Melaka route are expected to be restored tomorrow.

Public Works, Transport and Public Amenities exco Datuk Mohd Sofi Abdul Wahab said the faulty operations equipment had been repaired and was functioning well.

“The flight procedure has also been approved and AirAsia is expected to resume its flights to Melaka from tomorrow.

“My congratulations to the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and the sub-contractors who worked hard to resolve the problem,” he said in a statement issued today.

Mohd Sofi said he hoped such problems would not recur in the future.

“The maintenance procedure and practices must be reviewed and improved,” he said.

Yesterday, Bernama reported that AirAsia’s Penang-Melaka flights at LTAM had to be temporarily canceled due to technical problems in the airport’s navigation system. – Bernama
