SUBANG JAYA – July 22, 2020: Spurred by the success of its first restaurant, AirAsia’s Santan has launched its second outlet at the Sunway Pyramid shopping centre here.

Dubbed the world’s first inflight F&B brand to open a restaurant on ground, Santan established its first outlet at the Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur back in December last year with a vision of becoming a franchise across the Asean region.

“Santan is finally ready to open franchising opportunities,” said its general-manager Catherine Goh.

“Amidst the challenging economic climate, the expansion will enable Santan to create new job opportunities and help rehire former airline industry employees wo lost their jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We are able to rehire AirAsia staff, some of the ground handling crews and cabin crews and total headcount per restaurant is about 11,” she said.

Alexander Yeaw, who is in charge of Santan’s retail and business development said there will be a limited time of introductory franchising opportunity where it would only cost about RM50,000 to become a franchisee and about RM350,000 to open a full fledged restaurant.

“I am hoping that by the end of this year we could get about 15 franchisee signed up.

“This year, we only offer franchising opportunities in the Klang Valley, but next year we aim to expand to Penang and other states,” he said.

To celebrate the opening of its new outlet, Santan is offering customers a limited-time promotion of two Combo Meals comprising one meal and a drink each for only RM20.

Besides dine in and take away, this promotion extends to delivery orders at the new Sunway Pyramid outlet and can be made at from 22 July until 31 July.

The promo code is SUNWAY.
