KUALA LUMPUR — Feb. 6, 2020: The Attorney General’s Chambers will not contest an application for a judicial review to strike out a government gazette listing the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) as a terror group.

“We will proceed with our substantive application,” he said senior federal counsel Ahmad Hanir Hambaly after a case management today.

The case, filed by taxi driver V. Balamurugan, is fixed for further case management on February 24.

Balamurugan is facing multiple charges involving giving support to the LTTE and possessing items related to terrorism. He filed an application for the judicial review on January 8, naming the Home Minister and government as first and second respondents.

He is seeking a declaration that the details in the gazette on the LTTE are null and void and the listing unlawful.
