SHAH ALAM — March 20, 2019: The Federal Reserve Unit did not disperse the crowd during rioting at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple last November because the team was only told to be on standby.
This means the FRU team was there only to provide assistance to the Subang Jaya district police while the latter was supposed to brief or give instruction on whether the team should take action or remain on standby.
No further orders were given, according to testimony by ASP Shuhaimi Yaakub in answer to prosecutor Hamdan Hamzah during today’s proceedings in the inquest into the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd. Kassim.
Shuhaimi and Superintendent Jefri Muhammad tried to contact the OCPD but he could not be reached. Jefri then contacted the deputy OCPD who instructed the FRU to be only on standby.
Hearing before coroner Rofiah Mohamad continues tomorrow. — Bernama
