KUCHING, April 30 2016 : Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem said he wants the Chinese to be with him in the Sarawak government.
“And if they wish this, they must vote for SUPP…I want a big mandate from the people,” he told a crowd of over 2,000 who braved a drizzle to listen to him in Batu Kawah here last night.
He said they should vote for SUPP president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian and the rest of the party’s candidates in the state election.
It is time for the Chinese to return to Barisan Nasional, he said at the function attended by Dr Sim and several other SUPP candidates.
Adenan said he had adopted several initiatives for the Chinese community that among others include grants for Independent Chinese schools, recognising the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) and barring anyone from calling the Chinese “pendatang” (immigrants).
He said those were part of the 53 initiatives that he had implemented for the people since taking over as Chief Minister two years ago.
Adenan also informed the crowd that former Sarawak chief minister Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud had never interfered in the state administration ever since he retired from the post.
He said since he assumed the Chief Minister’s post in Feb 2014, all the decisions made were his own and were not dictated by Taib who is now the Yang Dipertua Negeri Sarawak.
“The White Hair (referring to Taib) never tell me what to do. He only told me if you want my advice, ask me and I will give,” he said. – Bernama
