KUALA LUMPUR – July 26, 2019: Health enthusiasts might be pumped up to know that MURFEST is returning this year for its sixth edition, from Nov 8 to 10.
Having been dubbed Asia’s Premier Wellness Experience — MURFEST (Malaysia Urban Retreat Festival) is bringing in local and international highly-qualified wellness instructors for a fiesta filled with music, dancing as well as a variety of fitness classes and workshops.
The three-day festival is organised by Xhale Asia Sdn Bhd and supported by Yayasan Usahawan Malaysia (Malaysian Entrepreneurship Foundation), better known as MyPreneurship.
In support of the ‘Visit Malaysia 2020,’ MyPreneurship’s goal is to promote Malaysia as Asia’s health and wellness destination.
“MURFEST has placed Malaysia into the global Wellness map… We aim to tap the wellness industry that grew 12.8% from 2015-2017, from a $3.7 trillion to a $4.2 trillion market, globally,” said Olivia Mercado, a wellness coach from Bolivia who will be joining this year’s line-up at the festival.
“In an era of major stress, burnout and digital overload — MURFEST as a platform aims to provide a haven of peace and stillness, flow and release… where individuals acquire tools and experiential knowledge to live healthier, happier lives through healing practices.
“These include Yoga, Dance, Music, Qi Gong, Reiki and Sound Healing among others,” said Mercado, who is also a certified yoga instructor specialized in the styles of Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Universal Yoga.
Another upcoming event that will be held concurrently with MURFEST 2019 is the SME & Entrepreneurs Business Awards (SEBA) — an annual initiative set up in 2014 by MyPreneurship to recognise the best SME companies and Malaysia’s most outstanding individual entrepreneurs across a wide range of industries.
“It is critical for SMEs to connect and collaborate on a synergistic platform for mutual benefit,” said Nitesh Malani, founder and chairman of MyPreneurship.
“Not just an award, SEBA 2019 is a catalyst for entrepreneurs to grow together with their team members and to meet other like-minded entrepreneurs through our year-long programmes that are in place to educate, train and mentor entrepreneurs,” he said, at the media launch for both events yesterday.
Some of the past award recipients include Tony Fernandes (Air Asia), Patrick Grove (Catcha Group), Anthony Tan (Grab), Bernard Chandran, Vivy Yusof and many others.
SEBA 2019, which is to be held on Nov 8, will also see a special focus in the wellness industry as part of the on-going collaboration with MURFEST.
Both SEBA 2019 and MURFEST 2019 will take place consecutively at Palace of the Golden Horses.
