KUALA LUMPUR — Dec. 12, 2018: Proton’s highly anticipated sport utility vehicle, the X70, will cost RM99,800 for the standard 2-wheel drive.

The Executive 2WD is priced at RM109,800, the Executive all-wheel drive RM115,800 and the Premium 2WD RM123,800. All prices are on the road without insurance.

The national car manufacturer is charging the same prices throughout the country.

The prices were announced during the official launch by Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad at the KL Convention Centre tonight.

Mahathir said Proton should continue to make progress and participate in developing new models.

The SUV, the first collaboration between Proton and China automaker Geely, is the most anticipated such vehicle in the country’s automotive history, with over 10,000 bookings received by the end of last October.

Mahathir was awed by the X70’s ability to communicate with its driver in English.

Zhejiang Geely Holding Group became Proton’s strategic partner in May last year when it agreed to acquire a 49.9 per cent stake.
Proton chief executive officer Dr. Li Chunrong said delivery of the SUV will start over the next few weeks.

“We want customers to get their cars as soon as possible. Some have had to wait for over six months, having given their name to dealers before bookings were officially opened so Proton is thankful for their patience and incredible brand loyalty,” he said.
