KUALA LUMPUR — Aug. 13, 2017: A total of 249 children and teenagers were detained during a crime prevention operation dubbed ‘Op Banteras Rimau’ in the KL City Centre (KLCC) are last night ahead of the SEA Games the city is hosting.

The youngsters, aged between 10 and 17, were picked up during the three-hour operation after police received reports about them disturbing and threatening the safety of the public and tourists.

Police also seized weapons, such as pocket knives and knuckle dusters, as well as drugs.

“We want to maintain a peaceful environment in the city in view of KL2017 and we hope other teenagers would observe good behaviour and show respect to the public and tourists alike,” Dang Wangi police chief ACP Mohd. Sukri Kaman said. — Bernama
