KUALA LUMPUR — Oct. 10, 2019: Fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho or widely known as Jho Low was able to arrange meetings with some prominent foreign personalities, including the late King Abdullah Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia.
Low was also said to have known well the CEO of the state-owned Mubadala Investment Company in Abu Dhabi, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak.
According to the observations of former 1Malaysia Development Berhad CEO Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi, Low had direct personal connections with some prominent foreigners.
Shahrol stated this during cross-examination by Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, the lead counsel for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak who is facing several charges involving money that belonged to 1MDB.
The witness also described Low as a consigliere to Najib.
He was further asked by Shafee if Low was representing Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin who at that time was the Yang di-Pertuan Agong or Najib in the Terengganu Investment Authority Berhad, to which Shahrol replied that it was Najib in his capacities as PM, finance minister and the special shareholder of TIA, which was later renamed 1MBD.
